　　狼似乎不怒也不煩，只是非常冷漠地看著它，任它獨自鳴叫。鳥兒發現了狼的無奈，便從石頭上飛下，靠近狼叫了起來。鳥兒可能不知道自己的這種舉動很危險，狼只要突然一伸爪子就能抓住它，但狼沒有那樣做。

　　我等了很長時間，它們之間仍然相安無事。我突然覺得我的擔心是多餘的，我怎麼知道鳥兒在叫聲中表達的是什麼呢?我只是出於人的心理，在為它們擔心，說不定，鳥兒正對狼訴說著一件高興的事情呢!

　　從表面看，鳥兒和狼如此近距離地接觸，是多麼不可思議啊。如果看到這一幕的是一個膽小謹慎的人，他就會為這隻鳥兒害怕;如果看到這一幕的是一個胸襟寬闊的人，他也許會發現生命互相映襯的美麗，會看到生命在追求心中的意願時表現出的勇敢之美。

　　人生的最高境界，是“取乎其上，適乎其中”的，如果自己面前是一隻被拴住的狼，就為它唱歌;如果一隻鳥兒飛到自己跟前高興地唱歌，就耐心地做一名觀眾，讓它感到生命的友好和美麗。

　　整整一天，一隻狼和一隻鳥兒就這麼相處著。它們組成了一面鏡子，凡是看到它們的人都被映照在裡面。
