　　Steven is discussing with Julia about what gift to give Vicky, the little girl living next to them, forher birthday.

　　史蒂文正和朱莉亞商量送什麼生日禮物給隔壁的小姑娘維姬。

　　Julia: Steven, what are you thinking about?

　　茱莉亞：史蒂文，你在想什麼呢?

　　Steven: Oh, you know, tomorrow is Vicky's birthday. I am thinking what gift to give her.

　　史蒂文：哦，你知道，明天是維姬的生日。我正在想送什麼生日禮物給她。

　　Julia: That's easy. A girl at her age must like beautiful ornaments. How about a hair pin?

　　茱莉亞：那很容易，像她這個年齡 的女孩一定喜歡漂亮的飾品，送個髮卡怎麼樣?

　　Steven: It's a bad idea. Vicky has short hair.

　　史蒂文：這主意不好，維姬是短頭髮。

　　Julia: Well, what about a brooch?

　　茱莉亞：那麼，胸針如何?

　　Steven: Only old women like that.

　　史蒂文：只有上了年紀的女人才喜歡胸針。

　　Julia: Maybe you should ask her what she wants for her birthday.

　　Steven's neighbour Jack comes to visit him,

　　Jack: Hi. Steven. I just drop in and want to have a chat with you.

　　Steven: Oh, so nice of you to come here. Have a seat. Please make yourself at home.

　　Jack: OK. Sit on the sofa Wow! Your house was decorated so beautiful.

　　Steven: Thank you. My wife would be very happy to hear this.

　　Jack: She must have done a lot of work on it.

　　Steven meets his new neighbour Charlie in the corridor. Now they are having a conversation.

　　Charlie: Yes. I moved here last week.

　　Charlie: I'm Charlie. Nice to meet you.

　　Steven: Nice to meet you, too.

　　Charlie: Since we live in the same neighbourhood, maybe we can help each other from now on.

　　Steven: I guess so. I live next door but one, and hope you'll drop in now and then.
