　　West Point

　　My father, brother and I visited West Point to see a football game between Army and Boston College. Taking a stroll before kickoff, we met many cadets in neatly pressed uniforms. Several visting fans asked the recruits if they would pose for photographs, "to show our son what to expect if he should attend West Point."

　　One middle-aged couple approached a very attractive female cadet and asked her to pose for a picture. They explained, "We want to show our son what he missed by not coming to West Point."

　　The Mole and His Mother小鼴鼠和媽媽

　　A Mole, a creature blind from birth, once said to his Mother: "I am sure that I can see, Mother!" In the desire to prove to him his mistake, his Mother placed before him a few grains of frankincense, and asked, "What is it?' The young Mole said, "It is a pebble." His Mother exclaimed: "My son, I am afraid that you are not only blind, but that you have lost your sense of smell.

　　譯文

　　傳說鼴鼠的眼睛是瞎的，可小鼴鼠卻對媽媽說他能看得見。媽想試驗他一下，便拿來一小塊香噴噴的食物，放在他面前，並問他是什麼。他說是一顆小石頭。母親說：“啊，不幸的孩子，你不但眼睛看不見，連鼻子也沒用了。”

　　寓意

　　那些愛吹牛說大話的人，常常誇海口能做大事，卻在一些微不足道的事情上暴露了本質。

　　A tiger is hungry, he is looking for food. He sees a frog in front of him.

　　一隻老虎很飢餓，他正在尋找食物。他看到一隻青蛙在他前面。

　　“Haha! A frog! My dinner!” so he rushes at the frog.

　　“哈哈!一隻青蛙，我有晚餐啦!”於是，他撲向青蛙。

　　Behind the tiger, there is a tortoise. The little tortoise sees it; he bites the tiger’s tail.

　　在老虎的後邊，有一隻烏龜。小烏龜看見了，他猛咬一下啊老虎的尾巴。
