　　The Old Cat

　　An old woman had a cat. The cat was very old; she could not run quickly, and she could not bite, because she was so old. One day the old cat saw a mouse; she jumped and caught the mouse. But she could not bite it; so the mouse got out of her mouth and ran away, because the cat could not bite it.

　　Then the old woman became very angry because the cat had not killed the mouse. She began to hit the cat. The cat said, "Do not hit your old servant. I have worked for you for many years, and I would work for you still, but I am too old. Do not be unkind to the old, but remember what good work the old did when they were young."

　　老貓

　　一位老婦有隻貓，這隻貓很老，它跑不快了，也咬不了東西，因為它年紀太大了。一天，老貓發現一隻老鼠，它跳過去抓這隻老鼠，然而，它咬不住這隻老鼠。因此，老鼠從它的嘴邊溜掉了，因為老貓咬不了它。

　　於是，老婦很生氣，因為老貓沒有把老鼠咬死。她開始打這隻貓，貓說：“不要打你的老僕人，我已經為你服務了很多年，而且還願意為你效勞，但是，我實在太老了，對年紀大的不要這麼無情，要記住老年人在年青時所做過的有益的事情。”

　　The First Snow

　　The first snow came.How beautiful it was，falling so silently all day long，all night long，on the mountains，on the meadows，on the roofs of the living，on the graves of the dead. All white save the river，that marked its course by a winding***纏，繞*** black line across the landscape***風景，山水畫***;and the leafless trees，that against the leaden***沉悶的***sky now revealed more fully the wonderful beauty and intricacies of their branches.What silence，too，came with the snow，and what seclusion***隔離***! 　　初雪飄飄，真美啊!它整日整夜靜靜地飄著，落在山嶺上，落在草地上，落在生者的屋頂上，落在死者的墳墓上!在一片白茫茫之中，只有河流在美麗的畫面上勾畫出一道彎彎曲曲的黑線;還有那光禿禿的樹木，映襯著灰濛濛的天空，更顯得枝丫交錯，姿態萬千。初雪飄落時，是多麼的靜謐，多麼的安詳!一切的聲響都趨沉寂，一切噪音都化作柔和的音樂。沒有了嗒嗒的馬蹄聲，也聽不見滾滾的車輪聲!只有雪橇的鈴鐺奏出和諧的樂曲，那明快歡樂的節奏像孩子的心在跳動。

　　Midway Tactics

　　Three competing store owners rented adjoining shops in a mall. Observers waited for mayhem to ensue.

　　The retailer on the right put up huge signs saying, "Gigantic Sale!" and "Super Bargains!"

　　The store on the left raised bigger signs proclaiming, "Prices Slashed!" and "Fantastic Discounts!"

　　The owner in the middle then prepared a large sign that simply stated, "ENTRANCE".

　　A Clever Panda

　　A little panda picks up a pumpkin and wants to take it home. But the pumpkin is too big. The panda can’t take it home.

　　Suddenly she sees a bear riding a bike toward her. She watches the bike. “I know! I have a good idea.” she jumps and shouts happily, “I can roll a pumpkin. It’s like a wheel.”

　　So she rolls the pumpkin to her home. When her mother sees the big pumpkin, she is surprised, “Oh, my God! How can you carry it home?” the little panda answers proudly, “I can’t lift it, but I can roll it.” Her mother smiled and says，“What a clever girl! Use you heard to do something,”

　　一隻小熊貓摘了一隻大南瓜，想把它拿回家。但是這隻南瓜太大了，她沒有辦法把這麼大的南瓜帶回家。

　　突然她看見一隻狗熊騎著一輛自行車朝她這邊來。她看著自行車，跳著說：“有了!我有辦法了。我可以把南瓜滾回家去。南瓜好像車輪。

　　於是她把那瓜滾回家。當她媽媽看到這隻大南瓜的時候，很驚訝：“天啊!這麼食的南瓜!你是怎麼把它帶回家來的?”小熊貓自豪地說;“我拎不動它，可是我能滾動它啊!”她媽媽微笑著說：“真聰明啊!記住：只要你肯動腦筋，沒有難辦的事。

　　What Animals are the sea

　　There are all kinds of animals in the sea. Look! They are coming. This is an octopus. The octopus is spraying ink. This is a shark. The shark has sharp teeth. This is a whale. The whale shoots water into the air. This is a sea turtle. The sea turtle has a hard shell. These are starfishes. The starfishes have five legs. These are angelfishes. The angelfishes have beautiful colors. This is a lobster. The lobster has strong claws. This is a jellyfish. The jellyfish has a soft body. They are different. But all of them live in the sea.
