　　環境保護

　　The world we live in is becoming more and more intolerable because of environmental destruction. Bird flu and Sars are two typical examples that environmental destruction may threaten our life. Besides, forest destruction , water and air pollution result in decrease of planting land and unpleasant weather.

　　Serious as the problem seems, we can come up with some measures to deal with it. First of all, the authorities should adopt the policy of "sustainable development", and laws concerning environmental protection should be put into effect and enforced strictly just as our government has been doing.

　　What' s more, every citizen should realize the seriousness of the problem and make concerted efforts to protect our environment. In addition, planting trees helps improve and beautify the environment.

　　我們生活的世界正變得越來越難以忍受,因為對環境的破壞. 禽流感和SARS的是兩個典型的例子,對環境的破壞,可能危及自己的生命. 此外,森林破壞,水和空氣汙染導致減少種植業土地及不愉快的天氣.

　　嚴重的問題,看來,我們可以得出一些措施來對付它. 首先,當局應該採取的政策是"可持續發展" , 法律和有關環保工作應該要付諸實施,執法不嚴,正如我國政府一直在做的事.

　　何況, 每個公民都應該明白問題的嚴重性,並共同努力,為保護我們的環境. 此外,植樹有利於改善和美化環境.

　　保護環境

　　Once man did not have to think about the protection of his environment. There were few people on the earth, and natural resources seemed to be unlimited.

　　Today things are different. The world has become too crowded. We are using up our natural resources,and polluting our environment with dangerous chemicals. If we continue to do this, human life on earth will not survive.

　　We realize that if too many fish are taken from the sea, there will soon be none left. Yet,with modern fishing methods, more and more fish are caught.We know that if too many trees are cut down, forests will disappear. Yet, we continue to use powerful machines to cut down more and more trees. We see that if rivers are polluted with waste products, we will die. Yet, waste products are still put into rivers.

　　We know that if the population continues to rise at the present rate, in a few years, there won’t be enough food.What can we do to solve these problems?

　　If we eat more vegetables and less meat, there will be more food available. Land for crops feeds five times more people than land where animals are kept.

　　Our natural resources will last longer if we learn to recycie them.The world population will not rise so quickly if people use modern methods of birth control.Finally, if we educate people to think about the problems we shall have a better and cleaner planet in the future.

　　過去，人們不必擔心保護環境的問題。 因為那時地球上人口稀少，自然資源似乎取之不盡。如今，一切都改變了。世界變得擁擠異常。我們正在耗盡我們的自然資源，有毒化學制品的使用也正汙染著環境。如果我們繼續這樣下去，地球上的生命將不復存在。

　　我們都知道如果從海里捕捉太多的魚，海里就不會再有魚了。但是，現代化的捕魚技術使得捕魚量越來越大。我們都知道如果砍伐太多的樹木，森林就會消失。但是，我

　　們仍舊使用強大的機械砍伐越來越多的樹木。我們都知道如果河水被廢棄物汙染的話，我們只有死路一條。但是廢棄物仍然源源不斷地進入河裡

　　我們知道，人口繼續照現在這個速度增長的話，不出幾年，就會發生食物短缺。我們該如何解決這些問題呢?

　　如果我們多吃蔬菜，少吃肉類的話，我們就會有更多的食物。因為同樣大小的土地如果種莊稼的話會比養殖動物多養活五倍多的人。

　　如果我們學會再利用的話，自然資源就能持續更久。如果人們使用現代化的生育控制方法，世界人口就不會增長如此迅猛。最後，如果我們能夠教育人們都意識到這些問題的話，未來我們就會有一個更好、更潔淨的星球。

　　保護環境

　　Environmental problems are becoming more and more serious all over the world. For example, cars have made the air unhealthy for people to breathe and poisonous gas is given off by factories. Trees on the hills have been cut down and waste water is being poured continuously into rivers.Furthermore, wherever we go today, we can find rubbish carelessly disposed. Pollution is, in fact, threatening our existence.

　　The earth is our home and we have the duty to take care of it for ourselves and for our later generations. Fortunately, more and more people have realized these problems. Measures have been taken to cope with these problems by the government. Laws have been passed to stop pollution. I hope the problem will be solved in the near future and our home will become better and better.

　　全世界的環境問題變得越來越嚴重。例如汽車汙染的空氣影響了人們的呼吸，工廠釋放汙染的氣體，山上的樹木被砍伐，汙水不斷被排人河裡。另外，無論我們走到哪裡，到處可見隨意丟棄的垃圾。事實上，汙染正威脅我們的生存。

　　地球是我們的家園，我們有責任為我們自己和我們的後代去照顧好它。慶幸的是，愈來愈多的人們已經意識到這些問題。政府已經採取了很多措施去解決這些問題，法律已被通過以制止汙染。我希望這些問題在不遠的將來能得到解決，我們的家園變得越來越好。
