  It is never too late to mend.

  亡羊補牢

  Once upon a time, there was a shepherd who kept several sheep.

  從前有個人,養了幾隻羊。

  One morning, the shepherd discovered that one of his sheep was missing.It turned out that, during the night, a wolf had stolen his sheep through a hole in the sheep pen.

  一天早上,他發現少了一隻羊。原來羊圈破了個窟窿,夜間狼從窟窿裡鑽進來把羊叼走了。

  His neighbor suggested to him: "You should fix the pen and cover the hole right away."

  鄰居勸告他說:“趕快把羊圈修一修,堵上那個窟窿吧。”

  But the shepherd said: "The sheep is already lost, so I don't need to repair it." And so he rejected the neighbor's suggestion.

  他說:“羊已經丟了,還修羊圈幹什麼呢?”他沒接受鄰居的勸告。

  The next morning, he discovered that another sheep was missing.Once again, the wolf stole the sheep through the hole in the fence.

  第二天早上,他去放羊,發現又少了一隻羊。原來狼又從窟窿裡鑽進來把羊叼走了。

  The shepherd regretted not taking the neighbor's advice.So he plugged the hole to secure the sheep pen.

  他很後悔沒有接受鄰居的勸告,他趕快堵上那個窟窿,把羊圈修得結結實實的。

  From then on, no more sheep was stolen by the wolf.

  從此,他的羊再沒有被狼叼走了。

  In the late Eastern Han Dynasty, the country was in confusion.

  東漢末年,天下大亂。

  In order to reunite the country, Liu Bei paid a visit to Zhu Geliang who had hidden himself in the countryside.

  劉備為統一天下,特意拜訪隱居的諸葛亮尋求幫助。

  He went there twice but didn't see Zhu Geliang. Then the third time he finally met him.

  他連去了兩次都沒見到諸葛亮,第三次才見到了他。

  Liu Bei explained why he came and explained his noble ambition to Zhu Geliang.Zhu Geliang also proposed some very good strategies.

  After listening, Liu Bei was so happy, he appointed Zhu Geliang as his military advisor.He said: "Zhu Geliang to me is as water is to fish."

  劉備聽後大喜,於是立諸葛亮為軍師。他說:“我劉備有了諸葛亮,就好像魚兒有了水一樣。”

  With the assistance of Zhu Geliang, Liu Bei's power expanded rapidly, and finally he realized his goal.

  劉備在諸葛亮的幫助下,勢力不斷擴大,最終實現了目標。

  Nowadays, this phrase is often used to describe the person who stays in the environment which suits him/her perfectly, or someone who is very adept at using the suitable or right methods.

  如今,這個短語常常被用來形容一個人處在完全適合自己的環境中,或者一個人能夠熟練地應用合適的或正確的方法。

  破鏡重圓

  In the Northern and Southern Dynasties ***南北朝,420-589AD*** when the State of Chen ***陳國*** was facing its demise, Xu Deyan ***徐德言***, husband of the princess, broke a bronze mirror into halves.

  南朝的陳國將要滅亡的時候,駙馬徐德言把一面銅鏡破開。

  Each of them kept a half as tokens in case they were separated.

  他跟妻子各留下一半。

  Soon afterwards, they did lose touch with each other, but the two halves of the mirror enabled them to be reunited.

  This idiom is used to refer to the reunion of a couple after they lose touch or break up.
