After burying his mother nine months earlier, a client of the local mortuary finally had enough money to purchase the expensive coffin he'd originally wanted. So we exhumed the body and transferred his deceased mother into the new steel casket. "What's so special about this coffin?" I asked the funeral director. He replied, "It has a lifetime warranty."
It’s Sunday. There are many people in the bus. And an old man is looking here and there. He wants to find an empty seat. Then he finds one. He goes to it. A small bag is on the seat. And a young man is beside it.
“Is this seat empty?” asks the old man.
“No, it’s for an old woman. She went to buy some bananas,” says the man. “Well, let me sit here, please, I’ll leave here when she comes back.”
The bus starts. “She hasn’t come, but her bag is here. Let me give her the bag. ” Then the old man throws the bag out.
The young man shouts, “Don’t throw it! It’s may bag!”
My hometown is beautiful place It stands near a wide river at the foot of low green hills. It has many tall buildings and wide streets. There are trees and flowers everywhere.
But it has not always been like that. In the old days, it was a sad dirty little town. Landlords and merchants lived in the few good houses. For the working people there were only dark, unhealt="英語手抄報"hy rooms in old buildings and huts in narrow muddy streets. Nearly everyone was poor and many had no work.
Everything has changed since liberation. The people, led by the Party, have got rid of the mud and dirt. They have put up schools, theaters, shops and flats. They have an assembly hall and a hospital. Along the river they have built offices, hotels and parks. A lot of factories have sprung up. On the river, streamers and boats come and go busily, day and night. They carry the products of our industries to all parts of the country.
I love my hometown, and I love its people. They also have changed. Healt"hy and happy, they are going all out to build socialism.

Just Allocation
Ina hot afternoon, two farmers were enjoying the cool under the tree. One
farmercalled L and the other called X. both carried tasty bread as their lunch. Ltookthree bread and X five. A businessman passed by when they were ready to havelunch.
“goodafternoon, gentlemen.” The businessman greeted L and X. the businessman wastires and hungry. L and X invited him to have dinner together.
“Butwe three men how to separate three breads? ” L confused.
“Let’sput the breads together, then divide every one into three equal parts.” Xsuggested.
Cuttingand dividing the breads, they all got the exact one.
Eatingup the breads, the businessman insisted to pay and L and X have no idea but toget it.
Whenthe businessman went away, L and X counted the number of golden bills----eight. “Eightbills, two person. Four bills every one.” L said.
“It’sunjust,” X opposed loudly, “I had five breads and you just three, so I shouldget five bills and you three.”
Lreluctant to argue, neither would he gave X five bills.
“Let’sinvite our village manager Morwey’s house and tell all to him. ” Thinking for awhile, Morwey replied: “The just way to distribute these bill is X take sevenbills and L one.”
“Pardon?”L screamed.
“Whyshould I posses seven?” Xalso felt strange.
AfterMorwey explained his reason clearly, both Land X had no dispute on thisallocation.
Wasthis really a just rule?
Answerthese questions before you decide whether it was just or not:
1. Howmany small pieces the eight breads were divided into?
2. Howmany pieces every one ate?
3. Howmany small pieces did L’s breads?
4. Howmany pieces L left for the businessman after he ate eight?
5. Howmany small pieces did X’s breads were divided into?
6. Howmany pieces X left for the businessman after he ate eight?
Thereason that Morwey only gave L one bill and X seven because the businessman ateeight pieces and only one was left from L’s while other seven pieces from X.
Tips:we always indignant mostly because we are used to scheming, but not counting.
